Does anybody experience increased hunger in the winter?!

Question: How do I manage this? Normally I'm fine just can't stop eating this month. Much appreciate all your suggestions.

Its cos there's lots more yummy food this time of year. Plus its comforting in this weather! In the hot you usually want to drink more than eat!

well maybe your like the bears and is eating as much as much as you can so then you can hibernate.

i think its coz were home more and its boredom

yes your body burns more fat up trying to stay warm this time of year so we eat more

Actually, it's normal - when the weather gets cooler, our bodies naturally think we need more fat to keep us warmer - making us eat more than we usually would. Keep it in mind - are you honestly hungry or is your body just telling you that you need to eat? Drink 8oz of water (a lot of the time when you feel hungry, you really may just be thirsty). But don't fret, it's normal!

when it is cold you use more energy to keep warm so you waste more energy and more food is needed to keep up with your body needs

It's the weather. You aren't as active in the winter, so you lay around more often. Boredom and hunger go hand in hand. Hence why so many people gain weight in the winter and then go on diets before bathing suit weather comes around.

Find some type of hobby that takes your mind off of it. Watching TV is the worst. Maybe if you're going to be cooped up inside, get a video game system. Hours go by and you never know it.

Humans, like many other mammals, tend to gorge at this time of year in order to build up a layer of protective fat against the coming winter months...from our hunter/gatherer roots when food in winter was in short supply.

maybe your body needs to store fat so it wants to eat. I never eat much in the summer...so maybe you're on to something.

Hey - When your body is cold it requires more food to stay warm. Your body burns more calories in order to stay warmer this time of year and it makes you very hungry all the time. Sugar is one of the fastest metabolised foods and if you just eat a peice of candy it will turn into the energy you need very fast and will actually take away your hunger. Hope this helps - Jeff

yes. we are indoors more. bordem sets in. chew sugar free gum

It's called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and it is thought to be caused by reduced levels of sunlight in the fall or winter. If you are being seriously affected, exposure to a sunlamp should mitigate the effects. TAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING THE SUN LAMP!!!! Above all, check with a physician before taking any type of medicines.

It is normal: it's cold. You can try with candies, chewing gum, water, ... but I think that the hunger will pass after the holidays

I must because (as usual) I am up about 7 pounds from Sept right now! Dern it!
