What is your take on health insurance?!

Question: Where do you live? What is your take on the way us Americans deal with health care? What are your views on socialized health care?

Also, have you seen "Sicko?"

I'm 20 years old, I have my first child on the way and I live in America. I think my new family would be much safer, healthier and happier somewhere else, such as England, France or even Canada.

In BC We pay $ 96.00 a month for medicare hospital is free. drugs have a deductable based on Income. I am getting daily IV at the hospital for an infected leg Not cost treatment may be weeksI have had an angiogram No cost. 8 hours in the ER treatment xrays lab a meal taxi home no cost Low income medicare free.. Thank God im not in the USA. BC is booming the Olympics are comming in 2010.

US. Eventually, something will have to be done regarding health care; the cost is just increasing too fast. Personally, I think a focus on preventative care should be prominent in any health care plan.

I think we need to keep health insurance private. Although providing health insurance to everyone is a great idea, it is not practical and does not function well. With universal health insurance, it would take months to have a non-life-threatening surgery such as hip replacement. Also, you may not be able to get certain surgeries/procedures that are not necessary....

Also, with universal health insurance, doctors are paid much less. This will change incentives of many many prospective doctors because the nice salary is a part of what attracts them to that career. This will divert the most intelligent, most caring people to another career. Along with this, health innovation and technology will grow at a much slower rate. Doctors deserve to be paid a large amount of money. They spend years and years in school and training.

A lot of people in England and Canada dislike their health care system. It can take weeks to get in to see a doctor for minor illnesses.

Don't believe everything you see in "Sicko." Michael Moore is an extremist on certain issues and only discusses his side of everything.

Universal health care is a great idea, no doubt about that. But it is not a practical solution.
