My blood pressure is 116/81 and my pulse is 73.?!

Question: My blood pressure is 116/81 and my pulse is 73. Is my blood pressure high or low, and is my pulse high or low? I have trouble with my blood pressure all the time. I have bipolar, depression, asthma, high blood pressure and low pressure at times. I am not a diabetic as far as I know. I'm thinking about being checked for diabeties when I go back to the doctor.

Right now, I would just like to know whether my blood pressure and pulse rate is normal, or if it is high or low.

Thanks in advance.

Both your blood pressure and pulse are fine.

Normal blood pressure is 120/80 but lower down to 90/60 is much better than 120/80. Below 90/60 could be low blood pressure and above 140/90 is too high and you need treatment.

A normal pulse is generally between 60 and 80 but 60 is better than 80. Some very fit athletes have a pulse as low as 50 or even 45 because they are superfit.

They are both normal.

Normal blood pressure is 120/80 so you are fine. Pulse about 70 bpm is good. The lower the pulse the better it means your heart is healthy.

BP and pulse are still within the range of normal. Try not to get tensed up over situations that you have no real control over. What will be will be.

I wish mine was that low. If you are worried about it, make a doctors appointment and go....

both readings are normal.

sopt on normal
remember with home based BP kits to read to the nearest 5 (115/80) and there is an electronic error of +- 10 - so while these devices are useful for measuring TRENDS do not rely on one off measurements.

Unless recommended by your doctor - you can reduce your stress by throwing away the BP machine!
even professionals have to rely on a number of readings not a one off!

you do not say how old you are or overweight - so your pulse rate could well be normal - although increasing exercise will help your overall fitness - and by exercise I mean walking not down the gym...

good luck
