What kind of bug is brown with black spots and 6 legs?!

Question: My son just woke up crying from sleeping. He says his outer ear hurts, but there's nothing there. A few minutes afterwards I saw a bug (as described above) crawling up the wall near his pillow. I caught it and put it in a tupperware box, just in case.
