Im having a weird pain in my right hip, help?!

Question: okay so im pretty sure the reason is that ive been playing the whole basketball season with running shoes, not basketball shoes. but every time i get up after sitting i have a horrible sharp pain in my right side hip everytime i take a step, and i can barely walk. I just got basketball shoes, so besides that, what can i do to fix this?! im going to go to the athletic trainer at my school before basketball on sunday, but i want some help to start healing it now. so does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

This answer is going to sound strange, but I would bet my life savings that I am right.

The problem is in your right FOOT!!! You mentioned your footwear not knowing that you had already identified your problem. Try having a deep-muscle foot massage once or twice a day, every day until your hip feels better. You can massage it yourself by hand. Use oils to facilitate the process. You can use a vibrating massager as well. Make sure you massage the toes, balls of your foot, arches, sides of your foot and the heel. In the meantime, you can alternate hot and cold packs on the hip, keep stretching, and use an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprophen if it gets bad enough. I had this problem RECENTLY and the foot massage did the trick! You might have to get an orthotic for your shoes, otherwise, invest in the best shoes you can afford. Oh, one more thing, REST THE HIP. This means no basketball until you are pain-free. Walk as little as possible. The more you are off of it the quicker you will resolve your problem.

Have your doctor check you for S.I. joint dysfunction. (sacroileac) I can't spell it too well! LOL! I have it and it affects my lower back, legs, and hip. If you do have it and they catch it early, they can keep it from progressing like mine has......Definitely need to see an orthopedic and get some xrays...........Might just be a bruised joint or it could be lower back issues...........GO TO THE DOCTOR GIRLFRIEND.

Your probably diagnosed your own ailment. The otehr person who said about foot messages is correct. Rest your foot. Stretch it out. Still go to the trainer. Best of Luck
