Having pilondial surgery, how will sitting be affected?!

Question: I'm having surgery on the morning of the 26th and going on a trip on the morning of the 28th.

I have never had any pain in the cyst. I had it twice this year and it cleared up completely by itself after a week in the spring, got it again in the beginning of the fall and got antibiotics that cleared it up immediately. It came back about a month ago and it's occasionally still been draining very slightly since then even after more antibiotics.

I'm going on a big trip for a group birthday and we will be driving about nine hours both ways. We will be attending an event and will be sitting in an arena for a lot of the 29th.

I have Vicoden prescribed to me for pain. Since I have never had any pain in the cyst, will my surgery still be very painful?

It depends on if they take out the whole cavity or just make a cut in the cyst to drain the fluid out.It depends on your pain tolerance It will hurt more sitting then standing or doing other things that don't put pressure on the surgery area.I suggest that especially for the car ride you get a donut its a half round circle cushion that helps not put so much pressure on the area.its not the most stylist but it will deff decrease pain.Just take your pain medication and try to take it as easy as possible If you have a decent pain tolerance you should be ok just get a donut.and try to make some stops while driving you can stand for a bit to get pressure off the surgery area. And you need to make sure to ask your surgeon if he thinks it would be ok for you to do this.

good luck
