Breathing deep causes a weird pain?!

Question: Breathing normally doesn't hurt, but taking a deep breath causes a sharp pain seemingly placed in my lower-right rib area. What's the cause of this? How can I releive it?

I had this thing that was similar, but don't ask me what it was called. Basically, it was an inflammation of the cartilage between two of my ribs. The pain occurred in the upper left part of my rib cage, and it only hurt when I took too deep of a breath or laughed a lot. There isn't much to be done. No one knows why it happens, but the best thing you can do is take an anti-inflammatory (like Advil, Motrin, or Ibuprofin) and wait a few weeks for it to go away.

u gotta get a feel up brah 2nd base bro

This pain can come from several things. Have you fallen? If so you could have bruised or broken a rib. If you have not fallen you could be having some lung problems (collapsed lung, pneumonia, bronchitis, pleurisy). It would be best to see your Dr. before this pain persisits. GL

hmmmmmmmmmm...i have had that a few times but it goes away after i take a few deep breaths. try taking a few deep breaths ( if it doesn't hurt too much) and if it doesn't work call your doctor!

I had that problem for a long time. Every now and then, when I would take a deep breath, I would have a sharp shooting pain in my chest and had to stop.

The pain stopped when I went to a Chiropractor. When the back gets out of alignment, it often puts the ribs out of alignment, which can affect breathing. There are some stretches that you can do to help this. I would suggest seeing your doctor in case it is something worse and scheduling an appointment with a chiropractor.

did you have any recent injuries or colds many things can cause the pain or discomfort cracked ribs lung congestion bruised muscles poor breathing functions as asthma cope do you smoke are you aerobically active for heart lung conditioning

Jake, call your Dr. or go to see him asap..it could be liver inflamation as that is right where your liver is located.......yet it could be a number of different things, and without visual diagnostics to begin with, and moving onto lab testing and possibly ultrasounds and/or a CAT Scan...only a fool would attempt to diagnose let alone even think of doing so!!
