Cat scratch... now finger is swollen and red?!

Question: I was playing with my cat, dangling a toy for her, and she tagged me with her claw... now my index finger is swollen and red... what should I do? I rinsed it with cold water, then saline, but it still hurts.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Well put a bandage and rinse it and it will be all great tommorow

I would put a little peroxide on it just in case, but I bet you are like me, allergic to the scratch of a cat...I always swell up when I get poked by a claw and I have to wash my hands after petting them before I touch my face or my eyes start feeling itchy...
But if it doesn't go down by morning or it gets worse, I would call a doctor

Wash it out with soap, apply bacitracin ointment and bandaid

get to the ER.

if the swelling and reddness doesnt go down after a day it is probably infected and you will need to see a doctor

use some neosoprine with a bandage

Sounds infected. Put some peroxide on it, maybe some neosporin, and it should go down.

While there is no clinical protocol for treating cat-scratch disease, many adults who suffer from the complication find the best remedy is rest and plenty of fluids. If, however, you experience ocular inflammation, medical intervention will be required. In many cases, the physician will prescribe a course of antibiotic therapy using the prescription drug doxycycline, with additional support of rifampin. With these two prescription drugs, the inflammation in and around the central nervous system is often reduced, thereby improving symptoms of cat-scratch disease. In some cases, corticosteroids may provide some therapeutic benefit.

i too get thatfrom cat scratches, I have a cat allergy. Cats toes are full of bacteria so become infected very quickly and easliy. I use proxide on it since ointments tend to stop it from breathing. Our if you cant use peroxide, then warm water and salt.. The salt pulls out the bacteria.
