Can acute knee pain have a neurologic origin?!

Question: My doctors are at a loss. The latest to date (a psychiatrist) suggested I see a neurologist. But does it really make sense, given the intensity of the pain? I can hardy remain sitting on a chair for more than 10 mn... There's back pain too, but to a lesser extent.

So plaese tell me if the nerves can be responsible, how they diagnoe that, and are there efficient treatments?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, any pain (joint or otherwise) can potentially have a neurological origin. In fact, a large percentage do.

If you have, for example, a pinched nerve in your back, you may actually experience the pain in your knee. It all depends upon which nerve is involved.

Treatment will depend upon the cause of the nerve pain. That treatment could be anything from simple chiropractic exercises all the way through to major surgery.

Go to the doctor assuming that it is something minor. It almost always is. But GO to the doctor. Permanent nerve damage can result if you fail to get treatment.

Well it could come from your head.

IF a Neurologist can't find the cause for the pain, then it's 'not' in your knee.

I had problems with my knees for years until a specialist asked me to stopp eating chickens that are not free running .Gradually i stopped having those problems

Mechanically speaking, Pain can only transmitted via the nervous system. Your wires are damaged and need to be fixed.
