it's called "good sleep hygiene" and you naturally have happening what many people need. keeping your sleep schedule steady and consistent is actually pretty important, although most people don't do it. it help keeps you from having problems come monday again when you need to get up on time. so while it may sound wonderful to sleep in 6 hrs later than usual, you probably won't be able to do it and may not want to change your sleep patterns that much anyway...i'd shoot more for an extra hour or two, otherwise you may have some big sleep deficit when you go back to school after break. personally, i'd love to have your problem. i have narcolepsy and often can't wake up to get anywhere on time.

? darken your room - put up heavy shades, insulated curtains, tin foil on the windows, whatever it takes to keep the room darker and the light filtered out.
? stay up just an hour later than usual. it may help you sleep an extra hour or two in the morning.
? don't know how active you are in general, but exercise or a tiring physical activity in the evening may help to really wear you out...the extra activity may be enough to help you sleep a bit longer the next morning.
? if nothing else works yet, try getting up an hour earlier than usual just to get a glass of warm milk or cocoa. maybe the extra grogginess will help you fall back to sleep and stay that way for a few more hours. (it's what i do on the *odd* occasion i can't get to sleep.)

merry christmas to you too, and i hope your winter break is loads of fun!

merry christmas to u too...my school is the same way i have to be up at 6 o clock in the morning...what i do is i go to sleep a little later than i do during the week then when i wake up in the morning i ignore myself wanting to wake up and force myself to shut my eyes..give it a try hope it works

Go to sleep later.

pretend 2 go 2 sleep and when ur parents fall asleep stay up as late as u can u will sleep in

try staying up later on the nights off and that might let you sleep later in the morning. Don't know if the sleeping patterns have a name but you never know. Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year.

Can you take a nap during the day? It might be easier to stay in your routine so you don't have to adjust back to it, and have a nap now in then to enjoy that extra sleep.

Why do you want to sleep in if you don't need it?

Do your parents watch you sleep? If they don't, go into your room whenever your curfew is and then then stay up reading a book or writing in a diary or listen loudly to an mp3 player whatever! Just do your best to stay up as late as possible. Then go to bed and you should wake up later. Also, if you want to you can wake up really early the first time you stay up and then be tired all day. Then you go to bed at your normal time and your body will want to to sleep in later because of missed sleep :)

Wow, for me it's exactly the opposite, i can sleep in, no problem, all day. It's the waking up earlier part i can't do so good, i even miss school days just because i'm not in the mood to wake up and just sleep in, i personally love those days. (: Anyways, do you feel tired during the day? is this why you want to sleep in? If you don't feel tired, don't sleep, spend those hours doing whatever you want. Life flies by if you sleep too much. If you are feeling tired and still can't sleep, maybe its depression, seriously.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I understand that you want to sleep in, but how do you mentally and physically feel when you wake up? Are you full of energy and ready to greet the day? I think this is the most important part of sleeping. If you had a condition that prevented you from natural night time sleep--this would be called Insomnia. However, I don't think you meet the criteria for this diagnosis. You can try staying up later so that maybe you can sleep later.

sounds normal to me. it's called your internal biological clock and your body adapts to the circadian rhythm that you tell it to adapt to. so if you have a normal sleeping pattern of going to bed and waking up, your body will naturally wake you up the next day at the same time you woke up the day before. keeping your "clock" in rhythm is good for your body. so i wouldn't recommend trying to sleep in, just get out of bed when you wake up and if you happen to sleep in the next day it is because you are tired or you have no need to wake up.
some tips to sleeping in: be really active throughout your day so you will be tired when you go to bed or you could just stay up late.
