Cracked toe nail problem?!

Question: So almost a week and a half ago, I was running in my hallway, but I slipped and rammed my big right toe into the wall. Now it has dried blood and there is a crack in the middle, about a cm's length uhm southward? Well the left side of that crack wants to come off and hurts when I put socks on. So I wear only the fluffy socks so it won't get snagged. I don't want to cut part of my nail off. Should I just wait weeks and keep trimming it so it will grow out? I don't know what to do.

You can go to a doctor but it's not really necessary. Just cover it with bandaids/a bandaid and that will keep it from snagging. It it still hurts put some neosporin on it. Take the bandaids off to shower and recover when your toe is dry. When the tenderness goes away, just take nailclipper and clip it off. This has happened to me a million times, its really fine.

I would go to a foot doctor and have THEM remove the nail completely. It doesn't hurt as bad as a cracked one getting snagged on a sock. And it will grow out quicker.

I know this sounds painful and you don't wont to do this but,,I would go ahead and take the nail off all the way so the new nail will grow. Also if you do decide to do that just put 2 band aids around the toe while you have socks on to keep it from getting infected. It will more than likely be sore for about 1 week.

Good Luck

This happened to my husbands thumb and I trimmed it and used crazy glue to keep it from getting snagged. It worked well. I also smoothed it with a buffing file.
