I need serious and quick help!?!

Question: I think my mother has the flu. She says she aches all over and she can't get comfortable, her lips feel swollen, shes coughing alot, shes so tired but can't get to sleep, her face is like on fire, she says her nose feels stuffy and its not, she feels nausea, and a very sore throat. Its 12:32am here and its too late for me to go out and get something for her. Shes been feeling like this for 3 hours now and I'm unsure if she has the flu or not because neither me or her have ever gotten it. Please help me I am so worry and I have no idea how to treat her without medication. Is there anything I can go out and get her at a store to treat her without a doctor having to prescribe it? Because its too late to see a doctor unless I have to call the ambulance. What do I do???!

It sounds like she has a type of flu. I would suggest a thermometer to take her temperature and Tylenol for her fever and achy body. Warm clear liquids will help with her sore throat like tea, apple juice, or cold 7-Up or ginger ale. Don't give her any solid foods because she may not want to eat them.

Do her lips actually look swollen? Is she having trouble breathing? If so, she should be seen by a doctor tonite.

For immediate relief, ensure that she is kept warm. Put her to bed, and cover her so that she is warm to the point of being hot. Next, keep her drinking water - almost excessively. The above steps should provide her body with a natural opportunity to fight off whatever it is that she has. Look in the phone book for the number of a hospital, and ask to speak to a nurse. Describe her symptoms - and the hospital will give you further direction, or if you should bring her to the E.R.

it does sound like the flu , especially if her cough is non productive (meaning she coughs alot but there isnt any loose flem coming up, like a dry cough sometimes painful) with the flu there isnt much they can do fro you anyway, if she went to the hospital they would probably waste alot of time doing tests and whatnot then tell you she had the flu and send you home . the only really effective thing ive taken for the flu was plain old aspirin. double check your medicine cabinet in case you have some. if you dont then how about liquor? not alot but a couple shots can really help ease the archness. she needs to keep hydrated and get rest. the flu is pretty much just going to be miserable medicine or no medicine.

ok listen if she has a fever then you do NOT want to make her cover up!!!!!!! get some tylonol from the med cabent and have her take it. then this will help her to bring her fever down motrin will do. give her this every few hours. then you want to keep her hydrated plenty of fluids oj, water, and gatorade but no milk if she has a fever this will make her sicker. if after 2 hrs her fever has not gone down and her condition is worsting then you should take her to the emergency room she may have something worse than the flu.

sounds like a flu to me! i know how she feels...
never make her feel cold...keep her warm with a something thin, like a bed sheet...
however, put a cold rag on her forehead, and also under her arms, no kidding, just do it
also keep her hydrated, with loads of water, and/or gatorade,
gatorade is your best bet though, since it actually has glucose to keep the blood sugar up
if you don't have gatorade, make sure she has something with sugar..
make sure you give her something to eat so she has some energy
give her some time to sleep as well...it's pretty obvious, no explanation needed
i guess you can call the operator and find a pharmacy that is open for 24 hours and get some multi symptom medicine, ask a pharmisist for some ideas for the medication she should have
or get her something to help build the immune system..
you know, i heard that putting some lemon juice and honey helps too...
you don't need an ambulance yet, but check her temperature every half hour...
GET HER AN AMBULANCE IN TWO HOURS IF THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME WITH THE MEDICINE.
(just wanted to get the message clear)

honey, don't freak out, your mother will be fine, just take good care of her..
good luck and happy holidays!
