Pulled Muscle?!

Question: I think I might of pulled a muscle, I was stretching my straddle splits yesterday and I could almost touch the ground... Of course I had to push myself down and I heard a crack, like the sound when you crack your knuckles. Now my right leg hurts when ever i sit cross legged or try to do the splits, but I can still run.. What I'm asking is did I pull my muscle or something more serious? Should I keep stretching because if I don't I might lose my splits. :( By the way, I'm a boy.

It's very hard to say since you didn't say where exactly it hurts, you just said your right leg hurts. If it hurts at a joint, like around the hip, knee, or ankle, it's more likely to be a ligament or tendon. If it's in the thigh or calf, it could be a pulled muscle, and still possibly a tendon.
My advice is to ice the sore area a few times a day, and do not do ANYTHING that hurts the area, including splits, until it begins to feel better. You can cause much more damage if you ignore the injury and continue to stretch it.

Is the area bruised? If not, you most likely strained the muscle. If so, you probably should give the splits a rest for a few days and ice that sore area. You can still run because you probably do not use the muscle you strained as much in the running motion as the sitting or splitting motion.

You probably did just pull a muscle, but there is the ham string and tendons that can get pulled too. Maybe you should see a Dr. if it continues a few more days.===
