I cut my thumb across the first knuckle, just under my thumb nail .?!
Question: The tendons were cut and I received 12 stitches. How long will it take to start bending it completely and what adverse effects will I have i the future? The Dr. had to sew into some of my nail.

well first off, depending on the sevarity of the cut, you should go to a rehabilatating program if it is a bad injury. normally u start this process when it is pretty much healed because you don't want to rip the stiches or cause further damage, but you should talk with your docter about this. I know someone who cut theier finger with a knife along with their tendent and he never went to the docter and his tendons are not right and now he can't bend his finger straight because their too tight. Like i said i dont know the sevarity of your injury but i would talk with your docter about rehad for it if it could mess up the function of your finger. hopefully this helps you. remmeber the longer you wait the harder it is to fix
Sorry to hear that. Tendon ruptures heal well. But it can give chronic pain as well life long. However, with good rehab and simple exercise you can make move your fingers like before.
