Dizzy spells? I feel like I'm going to pass out! Help!!?!

Question: Okay so here's my deal. More and more often I get these dizzy spells. First it feels like my eyes are trying to roll to the back of my head, like I'm going to pass out. Then I get this tingle in the tips of my fingers. After everything returns to normal I feel really dizzy. Then I get REALLY cranky for no reason. I was on Prozac for 2 years and then stopped three months ago when my prescription ran out. (My doc doesn't want to give it to me anymore) But since I've stopped everything else is fine. I wonder if it's because it's the holidays and everyone is running around like a chicken with their heads cut off? If you are doing that all day you don't have time to drink enough water, eat right or get the sleep you need. This is what I"m guessing. What do you think?

it is a possibility that your blood sugar has dropped..but if this was the case you would only start to feel better after eating or drinking something (other then water)....i wouldnt recommend drinking milk..i would recommend drinking juice or soda..something that has a lot of sugar in it..this would only be a temporary fix so you'd need to eat something also. Also, if it was vertigo you'd more then likley have a feeling of loosing your balance..Also, you can stand up to fast from a sitting laying position sometimes your bp can drop and cause the same feeling..ive known that to happen to a couple of patients.

Might be low blood sugar. Try to drink some milk to give your body a quick boost of sugar and see if that helps.

To prevent it, eat small meals throughout the day to keep your blood sugar stable.

I used to be really bad about working long days full of activity on little food and sleep, and experienced the same thing, even to the point of passing out once before I finally started worrying about it. Are you getting enough sleep and good food?

Sounds like a panic or anxiety attack to me. You were not having them while you were on the prozac because the medication prevented the attacks. The attacks can be terrible, but you need to keep telling yourself that you will not die from a panic attack. Sometimes your chest will start to hurt and you will think you are having a heart attack and it is just panic attacks. When you first get the feeling like you are going to pass out, sit down and put your head between your knees and count to 100 and keep telling yourself to let it pass, let it pass. Breathe in to the count of five and out to the count of 6 until it gets better. You might also need to get your sugar checked for low blood sugar or diabetes. Both can cause those symptoms. Good Luck and Merry Christmas.

Did you ween your self off prozac as otherwise you would have really bad withdrawals, which would have subsided by now.You could have Vertigo and usually this is treated with benadril or another type of anihistimine. You probably have water in your inner ear the Benadril will dry it up as it clears your passages.I have had this on more than one occasion and that is how I got it cleared up as my doctor prescribed something for me as I was hospitalized for it once.If you do not have high blood presure get any antihistiminen will work after a few days.
