Answers: doctors say it is harmful to health...why do people still drink/smoke...whats on their mind?

not common sense

Tobacco smoking is always bad for your health. No exceptions.

Drinking in moderation is good for your health. However, if you can't control your drinking, you should avoid it. Alcoholism is devastating.

When someone smokes or drinks for a significant amount of time, their body becomes psychologically dependent on the drug or drink. Doing both at the same time is especially dangerous because the alcohol will provide the poisons of cigarette smoke a faster route to the liver.

When you try to get someone off of a drug, drink, etc. their body goes through terrible withdrawal symptoms, because the brain has been fooled into thinking that the body NEEDS that substance for it's survival.

Moral of the story: it's not the last drink or cigarette that kills you...it's the first one that got you hooked.

Jawa, way off base...nicotine is a physically addictive drug as is alcohol. Not psychological. Your body goes through terrible physical withdrawals when you quit either. Take it from a long term smoker/drinker.
You want to quit, sometimes it makes you want to kill yourself because you hate it so bad. But, something always happens to make you go back. Not with everybody, but most I know.
