Sharp Pain in left hand?!

Question: Hello all!
I'm a 23 yo female.

I have a very sharp pain in my left palm, about an inch above my wrist. Don't think it's carpal tunnal, but pain shoots to my fingertips and the hand becomes numb & tingles when something touches the area of pain. At rest it doesn't hurt, but sometimes feels like it's cramping. I don't know if it's nerve damage or something else. A few days ago, when it first happened, I pushed up my weight on my hand as I was getting into a car, so I obviously did something to aggrivate it. :(

In May I had surgery on the otherside of my wrist (away from the current affected area) same hand - for a ganglion cyst removal & tendon repair.

Right now, I just have a wrist brace on (loosely) so nothing hits my wrist, and I'm taking motrin (which isn't helping any).

Aside from the ER, no docs are available where I am...so this is my next best option! Thanks! Happy holidays! :-)

there's trauma so obviously something must have been irritated within your wrist/hand that is causing the pain and sometimes tingling sensation.

go to see the ER and if possible have it x-rayed to see if the alignment of the wrist bones are not impinging anything - the doctor will tell you. if its nerve damage or compression there are different tests to determine that, your doctor will know if you can get to one soon.

as home remedy - if the incident is over 48 hours you can try hot water therapy by submerging your hand and wrist in a basin with hot water, hot enough that you can tolerate but should not scald your skin for at least 10 minutes. repeat it at least 3 times minimum of 2 (day and night). when you can you have to try to rest your hand first because your activity may be the one aggravating the problem, if you can immobilize it so much better... do the treatment for at least 5 days and observe your symptoms.

still best to have medical check up when you can.

good luck.

happy holidays.

Aleve- to relieve the aches and pains- keep the brace on- and use your wrist as little as possible, unfortunately that includes Yahoo and the internet because each tendon of your finger goes into your wrist.........have a Merry Christmas!!

At night, kindly try to wrap your left hand with plastic so as to help ease the pain. But remove the plastic after 2 hours then replace the plastic after 10-20mintues. Be sure to remove it again after 2 hours. Then the following day, NEVER take a bath or wash your hands. Then try to see if your hand is still painful. If it's still painful, try to see you doctor again and ask for a pain reliever.
It's Christmas time! Allow me to extend my warmest season's greeting to you and your entire family. May the new born baby JESUS continue to bless you with good health, abundant love and prosperity!
Merry Christmas to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With your other hand, massage the muscles of your forearm (from elbow to wrist) AND hand of your injured side. Try to dig deep into the muscle tissue. Include your palm, thumb and fingers in the massage. If you can't do it yourself, find a friend to help you. Massage as much as you can throughout the day. Use a massage oil to lubricate the skin so you don't damage it. If you go outside on a cold winter day, wear mitts to keep the tisses warm.

Rub it by ice , wash it with water and tight it by cloth
