Pushups are killing me? lol?!


Question: I'm in army basic training. Right now I'm home for the holidays, I already completed red phase, and when I go back I'll be in white phase. I took a pt before leaving for X mas break, I got 0 push ups. If I don't learn how to do push ups correctly, I'll be a restart. I tried and tried to do a push up, but I can't break the plane. So I just go on my knees everyday, but I just want to know if theres a way where I can do a proper military push up, even if it hurts, because I just seem to fall on my face when attempting to do so. Any advice and tips will be appreciated. thank you.

Weak triceps and overweight are the two big culprits.

Forget the knee thing. Go as low as you can without collapsing. Once you find that point do as many as you can...up to about 15 - 20, twice a day. Gradually increase the range of motion 'til you can do a correct one.

It wouldn't hurt to cutback on a few calories.

Try butterfly curls.Should help build the chest and bicep.That or lose some weight doughboy{J/K}

I believe that female soldier can use their knees while during push-up's if I'm not mistaken. Don't worry you'll make it and good luck in your endeavors.
