Piano: 5th finger pain and it keeps sticking up?!
Question: When I play the piano, my fifth always sticks up and I think that's making it hurt. My fifth finger is hurting in the knuckle area and it's very uncomfortable. Also, the tendon that's on my fifth finger is ort of out of shape?? It's sort of in an L shape... is that normal? How do I make my fifth finger stop sticking up? It makes my fifth finger knuckle hurt when I do arpeggios? If my finger is not hurting because of it sticking up then why is it hurting?
PLEASE help and thanks!

I've been playing piano for about 18 years now and I've had that problem in the earlier years. It's probably because you're tensing your muscles in your hand and your fingers. Your wrist should always be lose. Often times, when doing scales such ash Hanon or arpeggios, you tend to tense your wrist up. loosen them and let your wrist roll back and forth when you're doing arppegios instead of trying to do most of the reach with your fingers.
