ACL Replacement surgery?!

Question: I've been scheduled for ACL replacement surgery - and this will include cleaning the joint from a shreaded Meniscuis. I'm worried about the time I will be down from surgery. I know I'm going to be out of my regular job a week but I also teach Group fitness on the side. I know it will be a minimum of 6 weeks off from this - but I'm so worried it will be longer. what was some of your expirences? (Please - honesty is really the best expirence for me!)

The doctor has said he prefers to use a cadaver because the knee is so weak he doesn't want to weaken the leg any further.

I am also not one that can sit still for long periods of time....how long was it before you were able to be up and around even just doing house cleaning. Unfortunately it's my right leg so I'm guessing it will knock me out of driving for a while.

Thoughts please?!?!

Thanks!

It's really hard to say. The surgery is very different for each person. It depends on the skill of your surgeon, the level of damage you have, your own body's reaction to the surgery and how fast you heal. But if your Doc is a good one, he will be able to give you the best answers.

My older brother tour his ACL about 10? months ago..
And he plays soccer he will start to play soccer in january which is 11 months.
I know soccer has to do with your legs and stuff.
He got a cadavir or a dead persons acl lol dont know what it is called
It realy depends how much you are working your legs .
It sounds like if your a fitness trainer you'll be out for awhile.
What my brother did is first he would try excersising the knee in physical therapy, then gradually by the ok by his doctor he started jogging and going to the gym not working to much on the knee

Good Luck!
Happy New Year!
