How long is it reasonable to wait in a doctor's office waiting room?!

Question: Husband's doctor always makes him wait a minimum of an hour, usually an hour and a half. He always gets there at least five minutes before his set appointment time, never late. I understand that at times there are emergencies, but this happens every time.

Reasonable to me would be 15 minutes. I tend to make a nuisance of myself. 15 minutes after my initial appointment time, I go up to the desk and ask them how much longer will it be. I continue to do that about every 5 minutes thereafter. Usually, it doesn't take them long after just a couple times of pestering them before they get me in. Now, I have been made to wait in the little room for quite some time, so after about 15 minutes there, I open the door. If that doesn't hurry the doc up, I start pacing the halls. Doesn't take long for the doctor to come in after that.

I just can't stand to be shut in the little room for any length of time with the door closed. Never thought of it before, but I may be a bit claustrophobic!

half an hour. tops.

that really is ridiculous.
you guys should complain.
i'm sure he's busy too!

The average wait time in any Doctor's office is 4 hours, 37 minutes, and 26 seconds. Now stop your whining and start stuffing your purse with free magazines.
:)

i bring a sleeping bag and an ice chest when i go see mine...

That seems unreasonable to me. I don't have to wait longer than ten minutes when I go to my doctor.
If I go to a drop-in clenic it takes a couple of hours. And an emergency room hospital wait can take half a day.
But a family doctor shouldn't take that long.

Long enough to make a phone call and get another doctor.

It is rude and disrespectful of another person's time ; I have one doctor that , on average , you will have a 31/2 to 41/2 hours wait !
We all understand that there are exceptions such as an emergency of some kind but if your appointment is at a set time and you are there at the appointed time then you should be seen at that time ; after all , my clock tells the time just like my doctor's Rolex tells time ! :0)
P.S. Be a patient patient !

About 1-2 hours, once I had to wait 5 hours to get in!

that is unacceptable.

Try making an appointment for early in the morning when the office opens, that way theres no excuse that he (or she) had patients before your husband, and there will probably not be an emergency at that time.
