Can n see 'smoke' when u pass wind in the cold?!?!?!
Question: im fully aware its a highly amusing question. but it popped into my head one day and everytime i go out in the cold its all i think of!! so please, does any1 know if when you pass wind out in the cold (aka, temps you can see your breath at), does it produce smoke like when you breath? i kno what you're thinking....why don't i test it....i have a nasty habbit of always needing to pass wind IN the house, but never in the cold....weird....

No. Good question! When you exhale via your mouth, you are exhaling liquid vapours that crystalise in the cold air therefor creating 'steam'. When you exhale from the 'rear mouth' so to speak, you are actually passing a combination of nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, methane, and hydrogen sulfide that does not crystalise into water vapour therefore it remains invisible to the naked eye, though not to the naked nose.
A fart and a sigh are very different things. They might seem like twin exhalations from opposite ends of the same tube. But no, my friend. When you breathe out, you're ridding your body of the byproducts of respiration. Those byproducts are carbon dioxide and water. When you fart, you're ridding your body of the byproducts of bacterial action on undigestible cellulose and carbohydrates in your lower gut. Those byproducts are nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, methane, and perhaps hydrogen sulfide. More than 50% of your fart will be CO2 and hydrogen.
So what do you see when you see your breath? It's the moisture that you exhale as it moves from the warmth of your body to the cold air outside. Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air, so outside your body the moisture condenses and becomes visible. A fart doesn't have the proper water content, so we have no similar tell-tale butt cloud.

well you ll prolly need a willing participate to observe it for you... because ...u fart by the time you turn round to see if there is smoke...the wind would have become cold...i.e. the same tempreture as the outside...so u wouldnt really get to see it...plus u have to be naked as well...because by the time the fart get s through your layers and outside it would have become cold....
so u need to be naked...have someone outside with you and let them examine it for you...

put ur mobile camera under u and stands in coldest place in the street wait till it comes outs don't forget to keep the camera rolling so when the wind come out u got the shot of ur dream it may be come like a hurricane and it may come like a wave of small tiny winds if u cant see it ask windy she may know the way good luck ha ha ha ha ha ha aha aha aha ha ha ha aha
