Should I go to the doctor about my knee??!

Question: When I stand up and start walking after being seated for some time (i.e. even just 10-20 mins) I get a stiffness like pain on the inside of my knee (where the ligaments/tendons are). It only happens on one knee and has been happening for about 2-3 months now and it causes me to limp for a while until the stiffness subsides. Does anyone know what could be causing this pain/stiffness. I am considering going to my GP but don't want to go if I am just going to waste their time. Thus some advice would be greatly appreciated. What will the GP do when I go?? Will they send me for tests or will they just give me medication??

For one, your GP will be expecting to be paid, so you won't be wasting their time. I'm guessing its rheumatism, arthritis or something like that, usually older people get these ailments. Another possibility could be the cold weather affecting an old injury. Anyway a visit to your GP is the only realistic answer. It won't in tail anything difficult or uncomfortable, but it will give you peace of mind and easier mobility.

Possibly the onset of arthritis in your knee.
Check with GP.

yup, u better go to the doctor.

not even a doctor on here could tell you what is wrong with your knees you do need to go to your GP don't leave it any longer

I would go to your GP. He or she will be able to give you much better advice than we can. It's hard to say...they may do x-rays, they may do medication...I'm really not sure. But if it's been bugging you for a few months, then you should definitely get it checked out.

Go to your GP knees can be damaged very easily even without you realising e.g. a slight knock on furniture

Proper diagnosis requires an MRI scan

This happened to my wife and gradually she became unable to walk properly and nearly left treatment too late She needed an op to sort it out

So don't delay and don't be brushed off by your GP with some vague answer

I am not trying to frighten you but do take it seriously and make sure your GP does too

i get it in my lefted knee and the cold brings it on i just say keep the blood moving around and don't keep your legs bent for to long and see how you go and just go and see your GP to he mite give you something i found taking cod-liver oil help to
