Can jogging do this to you?!

Question: If you jog with those little head phones, can that cause ear infections because the sweat is being collected in the ear and not allowed to escape? I don't know if I should see a doctor soon because my left ear hurts when I chew and has been for the past week.

The damage could also be because of the pressure on your TMJ joint, which connects your upper and lower jaws. The ear canal runs close to where the joint is and the canal can sometimes become infected, giving you TMJ, or jaw, problems. If your ears are clear (run warm water through them and see if they drain anything other than normal ear fluid, like blood or pus), if not, push on the skin/bone right in front of your ear opening. If that is causing you pain, the problem is in your jaw, not your ears. A doctor still should be seen to help determine how serious of a problem it is as well as any treatments for you to cope with it.

Hi,
Maybe you're using your head phones for long time and that's the reason to hurts.
but if you stop to use them, maybe you will be fine.

Good Luck

I agree with Valerie. If you're wearing earbuds inside your ears, you can end up with temporomandibular joint pain. These images show a TMJ evaluation:

You will notice placing a finger inside the ear can help tell if the pain is in the TMJ.

I have TMJ disorder from an improperly-healed jaw fracture. I have to limit my earbud use. In fact, I cannot even sleep on the affected side or I have pain and dizziness for days.

You may want to try different types of earbuds, or use earbuds that don't push very far into the ears.
