I'm having a two hour blood test today, and I hate needles.?!

Pray, pray, pray. Do deep breathing exercises while you are waiting. Bretahe in slow. Hold for a second. Breathe out slowly. Don't look at the needle or the stick. Pray, pray, pray.

Just don't watch and talk to the nurse who is doing the test. People are people and you don't want to make the nurses job difficult, especially during this time of year. Realize you need to be calm and just focus away. Tell the nurse you are nervous and will try to keep eye contact so you don't panic.

nothing can help. dont tense your body cause that will hurt more. relax and take HUGE DEEP breaths its helps so much.

I hate needles so much too! Yet I have 11 tattoos but it's different you know. Anyway, if the person sticking you knows what they are doing you shouldn't feel a thing, just look the other way. You could always ask for them to numb the area as well, that has helped me before. The key though is to look the other way and stay calm. If it was me, I would refuse the test unless they were going to keep the area numb.

Get in the chair and tell the tech you hate needles so you are gonna zone out. Close your eyes and picture a very happy place. Take slow deep breathes. Keep breathing and picturing your happy place until the tech says all done.

look away.. think of something like a song that will take your mind of off something.. like day dream then.. take a deep breath..

i hate needles too and i was traumatized when i was a child... but one day i just closed my eyes and breathed in really hard and just sit back... aww.. hope its not tooo bad on you!

Tell the person that is taking the blood that you are nervous, and she may take that into consideration. Dont look, and concentrate on other things. Set a goal for yourself, that when you are done with this, you will do something you enjoy. Reward yourself afterwards with getting a special lunch, or planning a nice weekend doing something fun that you will enjoy. Even if you like to just go home and relax watching a good movie to calm down. Just dont think of pain, or discomfort, and it will go faster. If you have pets think of them. I do that when Im even having them take my blood pressure. I think of my German Shepherd, and it lowers it. Your mind has so much to do with how you react to things. Good luck, hope all goes well!

I close my eyes and think of sitting on a beach in one of those short beach chairs and feel the waves lapping up my legs, and a gal bringing me one of those fooffoo umbrella drinks,,,,
