Men - have you had a hernia operation?!
Question: So this lump underneath my navel has gotten bigger and my doctor has told me it's a hernia. I understand hernia surgery is pretty routine but what am I in for - lots of pain, lying on my back for weeks, etc?

A lot of hernia operations are 1 day only... some you walk out of the hospital the same day. Still, its painful but it is pretty routine now.
I am a woman and had a groin hernia, and it was horrible the first two days. a medicine bag hanging on you, you can't go to the bathroom and you puke alot, you can't walk. so be prepared for the first two days of total misery, but after that it gets better
