Just threw my back out at work, any good tips...?!

Question: ... on how to protect it until I get home tonight and put a hot pad on it?

Its not horrible right now, though, it could be if I twist in a wrong direction. Can't take asprin/Tylenol for other medical reasons.

Any help would be soooo appreciated! Thank you!!

Ice first! Before heat. Remember R.I.C.E. Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Ice or cold compresses will help reduce swelling and thereby pain. Also minimize movement. You should see a doctor. Hope you are better soon. Prayers.

You need to leave work immedaitely and go to a doctor. Take a couple Motrin later also after a hot shower.

Oh no!

You have to get a back brace, maybe someone can pick it up for you at the nearest pharmacy. Maybe they can get a moist pack that you can heat up at your job (microwave) as well.

Are you going home? If not, don't sit on a soft chair, make sure it's firm, put a large coffee table book on it.

You should go home and rest *wagging my finger at you!*

I hope you get beter soon, and enjoy your weekend!! :)

Take good care!!

Hugs!!

You need to go to the doctor and not mess around with it. Just tell your supervisor, and file a workman's comp claim...they will send you. That's what they carry the coverage for. I was a supervisor for many years and you need to go tell them. Hope you feel better soon, but those back problems can be painful....Take care of yourself...#1

I suggest taking a couple precautions, and I speak from experience. Tell your employer IMMEDIATELY so they will have record of the injury. It may not seem too bad right now, but these things can get worse fast. (My father-in-law injured his back at work and didn't really think anything of it. By that evening he was in the emergency room because he couldn't even stand. 9 years and several surgeries later, he is on long term disability and STILL going through the Workman's Comp law suit. It started off as just a tugging pain, but ended up being MUCH worse.) Once you have done that, try not to lift anything else for the rest of the day. If that is part of your job, then when you tell your employer, request a back brace...OSHA requires them to have one for you or provide one. Make sure that you bend and lift at the knees, not at the waist. When you get home, try heat compresses. God bless and good luck, and PLEASE, not matter how small it may seem, report it to your employer!!!!
