Is it safe to walk and stretch if I have a knee that might not be too good?!

Question: I have a bit of grinding in one of my knees. I can't have it looked at right now, but I want to start doing some exercising. I thought maybe some stretching, walking, and some upper body stuff might be safe as long as I don't over do it. But, I'm not sure.

Depending on your age you may have arthritis in your knee as it sounds you no longer have enough cartilage to allow the joint to slide. In terms of walking and stretching I'm not necessarily sure it will make it feel better but you may try in moderation. I would not engage in heavy exercise as you do not know what your knee condition is and it could make matters worse.

Here's one stretch to try that may help. When sitting on the ground with the leg straight out in front of you, cup your knee cap between your thumb and index finger, gently traction your knee cap pushing towards your foot, after the knee cap has moved down/ inch or two, contract your quads/upper leg muscle forcing the knee cap back up underneath your hand. Pressure is to be light and this stretch can be done 2-3x per day.

The best thing for problems like that is excersize. Believe it or not, it makes it better half the time.

Do not do exercises although you can walk around because since you are not sure of what your knee problem is, and you cannot seek medical help, you should not exercise because of the risk that might happen. You should get it checked then exercise instead of making your leg problems worse.

Don't walk ... especially don't stretch!!!!! Get a gas driven power saw and cut the friggin thing off, you dope
