Is washing your face at night bad ?!

Question: My superstitious dad is sermoning me not to. Is there any proof to this?

Here's the story.... my dad just got home from work and he sees me washing my face around 11pm (1 hour before I go to sleep). And then he tells me (or more like sermons me) to never do it again or I can go blind or something. I asked him where he heard this from, and he couldn't provide an answer but just yelled at me to never do it again. I always thought that washing your face at night is good so all that junk built up from the morning will be washed away. And now he's telling me to stop washing my face at night!!

Need advice especially from dermatologists who actually knows what they're doing to show to my dad that he can make mistakes (because he always thinks he's right, GRRR)

1) you cannot go blind from washing your face at night before you go to bed!

2) It's a good idea to wash your face before going to bed, if you're sleeping face down on your pillow it can clog your pores even more by pushing oil collected during the day into the pores causing pimples, blackhead or whiteheads

3) no offense, but your dad is a quack :p I wash my face twice a day and I can still SEE!!!

what the f...
how does washing your face at a certain time make you blind -_-
its definitely not bad. but u can stop if u want to make ur dad happier -_-

I mean no disrespect here, but it is really, really odd that your dad believes this. How on earth could washing your face at night make you go blind? Everybody washes their face before they go to bed. Just like everybody brushes their teeth and puts their jammies on. I have been washing my face every night for the last 20 years and I have perfect vision.

Are you a girl? If so, you need to wash your face and moisturize every single night before bed. Otherwise your skin will really suffer.

Just close the door when you go in to wash your face. People who think they're right and overly superstitious aren't going to listen to you or anyone you get to side with you. Believe me, I can't get my mom to believe that microwaving stuff in plastic won't kill you as well as going outside with wet hair :P

It may well be a old rumor or a "saying" that old/er people have just passed on.
Just a totally founderless tale whith abosoutly no scientific proof behind it all.
anyone that cant Answer such questions with Proven Studies are clearly Lying
May be idea wash your face maybe ealier whilst dad isnt home.

Well you should wash your face b4 you go to bed. On the same hand it seems like a old wife's tale. I would just take a shower and clean up b4 bed time gets too close. This way it's a done deal.
I don't know why he says that but I would ask him why? Ask him why would I go blind?
Better yet don't ask him, make sure you have some privacy when your in the bathroom and do your own thing.

I think what he is referring to your head is wet, you might catch a cold etc... Good Luck
Listen to your dad but at the same time use good judgment to.
