I feel lots of gas in my stomach and it hurts?!

Question: What can I do to get rid of it? When I wake up in the morning, my stomach hurts and is full of gas...is it because the position that I sleep in? They told me that green beans cause gas...I love green beans, but I dont eat them that often...

What is it causing this? I hardly ever fart or burp. I drank a mineral water yesterday, and burped alot, but no farting. I personally think that farting the gas out might be better than burping it out. My stomach has been hurting for i dont know how many months, (24/7) especially when I wake up

What can I do to get rid of it. Please help!

It is probably not how you sleep - that would be veru unusual.

Gas gets into the body in two ways.

1. You take it in through the mouth. We actually swallow a tremendous amount of air, especially when we are nervous or when we eat and drink. You can also get gas in your guts from carbonated drinks (soda, sparkling water).

2. Gas is formed when bacteria break down, or fail to break down, food in our guts. Beans can be a cause of gas because they contain substances that are difficult to break down. Green beans are nowhere near as bad as other kinds of beans, like pinto beand and navy beans and kidney beans. MIlk and milk products contain a sugar called lactose that requires an enzyme to break down. If you lack the enzyme you are considered to be lactose intolerant. (I have this and it can cause no end of misery.)

There are other things that can cause abdominal pain, including stress and illnesses, so, as always, see your dcotor and get it checked out!

In the interim, what can you do?

1. Take a lactase supplement like Lactaid whenever you take in dairy products. If you are lactose intolerant this will fix you right up. I need to take twice the recommended dose, but there is no problem with that because lactase is totally safe.

2. Take simethicone (Gas-X). Simethicone is a chemical that causes gas to bunch up so it is easier to expel. Some people think it works well, others are not convinced, but it is very safe at receommended doses and cannot hurt.

3. If you are going to eat beans, take Beano, a supplement that contains enzymes that help break down the gasogenic substances in beans.

4. You might want to avoid raw vegetables for a while. Sometimes high levels of fiber cause a lot of gas.

5. Avoid sugar alcohols. Ever eat an Atkins bar? They are sweetened with sugar alcohols which taste sweet but cannot be broken down by the body. Since they cannot be broken down, they do not lead to weight gain, but they can lead to lots of gas. Sugar alcohols are found in all sorts of diet foods. Read the labels.

6. Some people report that taking Zantac (150 mg once or twice a day) helps with gas.

7. See your doctor!

gas-x

you need to fart and burp

No cokes. No carbonated drinks. Drink 2 quarts of water---every day. Sit on the toilet and have a bowel movement.

You could be lactose intolerant. Remove milk and all milk products from your diet and see if that helps.

drink non-carbonated drinks, eat lots of fruit, and get some bean-o or gas-x..and then maybe some stool softener..

I don't think it's green beans. It's Pork and Beans. Get some tums. Or when you get that feelin, just blow out the gas. Or get something for your tummy.

Well you can go to your Wal-Mart or local store and buy GAS-X or you can buy PEPTO-BISMOL! They both work pretty good. Good Luck! Get Well Soon!

go see a doctor if you can. He/she will give you what you need to cure it...or get over the counter meds for gas and congestion (if you are not able to see a doctor). Try peptobismol.

You might have IBS syndrome, I think I might have it I have abdominal cramps sometimes and get gasey and my stomach hurts after certain foods. Have problems going to the bathroom sometimes..

Irritable bowel syndrome involves a combination of abdominal pain and alternating constipation and diarrhea. There are many possible causes. For instance, there may be a problem with muscle movement in the intestine or a lower tolerance for stretching and movement of the intestine. There is no problem in the structure of the intestine.

u should go to the doctor my stomach hurts bad to and what helps me is i watch what i ear and try not to eat things that make it worse now when it gets real bad what helps me is 3 teaspoons of baking soda and 8 ounces of cold water instant relief but u should go to the doctor and see whats going on

There is no normal reason this has been going on so long. There is no way you are eating the same kinds of food every day. Perhaps you have some time of food intolerance. I get that way when I drink milk. Any of the over the countr meds were not meant to be taken long term. Please see your doctor. You shouldn't feel in pain this long.

try masagig your tummy, it helps me

Gas is caused usually by dietary issues such as food intolerances. It is simply not just one food that is bothering you but a combination of many. You will need to do some research starting by doing a restriction diet called the elimination diet to find what is bothering you. Until then, when you do eat:
1. Take some enzymes tablets to help digest food(get them at health food store)
2. Do not eat 3 hours before bed
3. Take 2 pro-biotic capsules in the morning and before bed (you can also get at the health food store).
4. Start now by eliminating process sugar, refined grains (like wheat) and go without dairy for a few days to see if you have some lactose issues. Often the issue is one of those 3 culprits.
5. Please see your doctor and get your gallbladder checked out too!
