I have a solution to overweight children and adults! Please read and let me know!

Question: Gotcha. It's no miracle, no new pill or treatment. It's simple. There are four steps, and if you leave out one its GUARANTEED not to work!
1. Eating right.
*Including fruits and vegetables, milk, daily vitamins, plenty of water, protein and fiber found in breads, healthy cereals, etc.

2. Exercise.
*Daily exercise.. usually cardio (running around!) for kids. Adults should work on cardio as well as strength training (lifting weights.) Get up around your house and dance with your kids or run around the yard with the dog. Just get up and do something!

3. De-Stress.
*Stress can wear down your immune system, lead to depression and low-self esteem and overall crabbiness. Give yourself quiet time.

4. THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP! *Sleep. You need sleep! While its true you need more when you're younger, you still need plenty of sleep as an adult. While some can function off of 6 hours, most need 8-10.

And SMILE. It makes you live longer. :)

Yes. I agree with you. These are all things that would help all people be healthier, if they would only apply them. I do like the "smile." Smiles are contagious. It helps a person feel better on the inside. Helps you feel better about your current mood or situations. It helps others around you feel happy and encourages others to feel happier with a simple smile. :) :) :)

We would ALL benefit from those steps, overweight or not. I am especially fond of the smiling part. Negativity and pessimism are real downers (no pun intended) and not just in the mental sense.

i agree if only people realized it instead of doing crazy diets..and pills..that most of the time fail miserably anyways lol!

Yeah, it will def work, but for some people, its not that simple. I'm overwieght, but i don't have time to do all the things. I hav school, i work a job every night after school, tehn i do my homework, which usally takes 2-4 hours. Then i eat something fo spper go to bed, and get 4-6 hours sleep. If only life were easy eneough people could do that.

I can honestly tell you that you've hit it spot on! I am an overweight person who isn't at all comfortable with her weight right now. However, I do have to make a few points.

It should be as simple as what you've written, but it isn't always. Some people like myself have actually suffered trauma in their lives, and instead of turning to drugs or alcohol to get rid of the pain, they turned to food. Now, of course I know that not everyone who has suffered trauma in their lives will become addicted to something, but there are those who are, as clearly is shown with the alcohol and drug addictions out there. Did you know that sex and pornography can also become an addiction?

I love the smiling part, but that isn't always easy to do when we have people out there who look at us with disgust. I know that for me, being happy requires me to feel good about myself, and sometimes when someone gives me a once-over from head to toe, with a disgusted look in their eyes, it does hurt. And though I try not to let it get to me, I don't always succeed.

Stress is a big one for me. It's not until the past year or so that I've really began to see how much stress really affected me. I've always thought I dealt with stress well, but looking back I see that food was always there for me (at least when my stepfather wasn't home and I was free to raid the fridge). I've since taken steps to eat healthier, and eat the right portions according to Canada's Food Guide, but when I feel stressed, I sometimes find myself going for the junk food (which I don't keep in the house as a rule, but there are always fast food restaurants out there).

I also went through a period of severe depression this year with my business, and almost my marriage, failing. I felt so low and like such a failure that I didn't care what was happening around me. I ate myself silly, and gained nearly 100lbs.

But yes, you are right. Those are the right steps to solve the problem. But before we can engage, we need to feel right about ourselves, and be given the encouragement to make the changes in our lives. No one that I've ever met is truly happy being 'fat'. Sure, there are some with a few extra pounds who are quite content (and I'm one of them), but no one wants to be obese.
