Has this happened to anyone? What can I do?!

Question: I woke up with severe pain in my lower back; it hurt so badly that I had to struggle to get out of bed. After feeling dizzy and sick from the pain for about fifteen minutes, the pain receded suddenly and became a dull ache in my lower back. I could barely walk without pain. After a trip to the emergency room I received two shots to make the pain go away and was told it was a muscle spasm, possiby brought about by a pinched nerve or strained muscles. I have no idea what I did to cause this.
If this has ever happened to you, how long did the pain last, and what did you do to alleviate it? How soon can I resume my normal activities? (they were not very helpful at the hospital)

Low back pain is very common. Did they give you anything for the spasms? If not, contact your doctor & ask for Flexeril or by its generic name Cyclybenzaprine. It is a muscle relaxant. I use it for my Fibromyalgia.

You need to rest & not strain any of the lower back muscles to give the tightening muscles a chance to rest. Yeah, that means bed rest for a couple of days & sometimes more.

The muscles tighten & stay that way for a while, painful, I know. The muscle relaxant will loosen the tightened muscles.

With low back pain you could also have bones out of alignment in your neck. If you are out of alignment at the bottom you are also out at the top. Perhaps a visit to a Chiropractor would help.

Try a heating pad, that will also help the muscles to relax.

I would be careful with the pain. I had something similar and after the third trip to the hospital they discovered that my appendix was enlarged and I ended up needing emergency surgery.

.
it could be a trapped nerve what is know as sacral illiac nerve pain.
the symptoms your describing sounds similar.
Pain... depends, apply heat rub or when sitting a hot water bottle. this will help with the pain.
what happens is one can trap a nerve in this region, it leaves bruising and a possible Small bleed there the pain comes not from the trapped nerve but the secondary pain of internal bruising into your muscle, and how long does bruising take to go ? that's your answer.
surely i have got best answer for that
