My husband has been up puking last night and is constantly shivering?!

Question: but his body was really warm, yet he was complaining of being really cold. He was complaining that he had a stomach ache and once he had been sick, his stomach still hurt, although less but a headache and backache started. He adamantly refuses to go to the hospital. Does anybody have a clue whatt his could be? I thought food poisoning at first but why the back and headache? I'm still trying to get him to go to the hospital. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like flu. Proper flu. Influenza. Not the "flu" people claim to have when they have a bad cold.

It could be flu or gastroenteritis (the latter is sometimes described as stomach flu).

could be a stomach virus

is he running fever? if so - he needs to see a doctor!

if not.........let it ride until he feels crappy enough to go to the doctor..........

Maybe the novo virus - which can seem similar to this. The shivering and heat etc sound as though he has a high temperature. Give him plenty of fluids and cover only in a sheet - he may feel cold, but the idea is to cool down his temperature. Override him if he does not get better soon or seems to be getting worse. Call the NHS direct. They will advise further.

He has the winter flu/cold virus. We've all had it in our family over Christmas its rampant through-out the country. Tell him to take paracetamol for the headache and to drink plenty of water. Keep in warm room until better. It takes a week to fully get over it

Hospital isn't needed unless his fever gets real high or he doesn't stop throwing up after severl days. Keep him hydrated...try poweraid or gator aid to help replace electrolytes.

It sounds like the flu. My hubby and 2 out of three kids just got over it and symptoms were all the same. If fever gets above 101 then maybe call your local ask a nurse if you have one or go to the doc or urgent care center in the morning...cheaper than an er visit and at this point it isn't life threatening si it diesn't need the ER.

If you're in the UK, there is a virus going round with these symptoms (I believe it's called a "norovirus") We had it last Christmas and it's nasty, but not life threatening. If you are worried, perhaps a call to NHS Direct might ease your mind, or try to get an emergency appointment at your GP (although it may be shut at this time of the weekend). Personally I don't think it sounds like a trip to A&E is necessary just yet, keep an eye on him and make him drink lots of fluids - it's probably just a bug. Oh, and make sure you keep your hands clean as you don't want to run the risk of catching it if it is contagious.

he could be really really dehydrated????

08454647 speak to a nurse.

i had this a couple of years ago it is flu [not man flu] .

Check the Dr first.

Your efforts to get him to go to A&E are right.
Could be a virus ? had one last year and was taken to hospital, put on drip, becouse of dehidration, antibiotics plus steroydes,in a week then two weeks later back in with same problem. If he wont go ring emergancy docter now.

He's got the dreaded bug, that a third of the country's got. Wev'e all had / got it. You'll be next, it's going around like the proverbial Wildfire.

There's a bug going round.
My sister went to the doctors about that yesterday morning and got some tablets.

Call the NHS helpline, first and they'll tell you exactly what to do.

Don't know why he refuses a hospital, but that's a expense I don't have to worry about. I'm not a doctor, but I hope it's not appendicitis at it's worst. My story on that is that...
I was fortunate to catch mine in time before my appendix burst. Hope it's only a flu or something of this season. Sorry, wouldn't chance it, but I'm not in his shoes. I've heard of this stigma before, but for what. IDK

Agree with tallpaul. That sounds like the real flu. I've only had it once in my life and I hope never again. The usual pain killers, fluids and rest help (a bit). I was out for 3 days and to say I felt like I was dying is an understatement.

I know around here everyone has been suffering from a winter vomiting virus which is pretty nasty. It doesn't seem to last long though. Seeing a doctor would be a good plan. Make sure he has plenty of fluids as they are essential because dehydration due to vomiting could be a cause for the headaches.

it's the flu depending on age it will take 4to 7 days to go then you may be left with a annoying cough tried all cures none seemed to make any difference just plenty of water so he don't dehydrate

Running a fever usually gives you a headache plus general aches and pains.
Give him plenty of fluids to drink, paracetamol for fever and pain. Let him rest in bed and sleep if he can.
If no better in a couple of days consider a trip to the doctor. There are stomach bugs, colds and flu doing the rounds at the moment. Likely he has picked up one of these.

I think you should call the doctor out to your home.Im a nurse and his symtons are of meningitis.I dont mean to frighten you but you must get him to a doctor.

Could be any number of things. Sounds like flu-like symptoms. Could be an infection with flu like symptoms or the flu or any other

Things that can exhibit flu like symptoms
Flu
Meningitis
Pneumonia
Bronchitis
West Nile Virus
St Louis Encephalitis
Lyme disease
Yellow fever
Malaria

Some of the above are caused by mosquito's and may have a longer time to show up after being bit. So if he was bit last month in South America, he might have something from the region that just popped up now. You can also contact your counties health department for more information on Monday when they open. But for now, please check below and enter in his symptoms and see what it might be. If it is serious, then he will need to go to a doctor, if he wont go, call the paramedics or threaten him with them if he wont go to the hospital.

Not to scare you, but maybe you need to scare him to motivate him to going in to the hospital. If it is the flu, remind him sometimes people die from it.

when i am sick my god heals my sickness lets pray for his good health he should go to the hospital i use to have the same problem the doctor gave me an injection now alhamd u lilah i am fine

I know he dont want to bother the nhs at such a busy time. As everyone else has stated, it could be something serious or it could be something minor. I suggest that you call nhs or the gp emergency number. Do this NOW - you can go online and go through their questionnaire if it helps, or if it is quicker. In the meantime, dont give him anything to eat or drink - the body needs time to recover.

A warm bath and a good nights kip is what my parents swear by!
