My back hurts like hell! Please help!!?!


Question: I've been having backaches while lying on bed for 3 weeks now. My back never hurts when i walk around, sit, play, run.......... only while sleeping! I am 21 years old, regularly play 3-4 hours of badminton and have never had health related problems. But my back hurts really bad (the upper & central portion between the shoulders) when i lie down & try to sleep. Any help?? Please!!

most likely a pinched nerve, or out of place. seek out a good chiropractor. they really do help without drugs. but they must be a good one. there are bad chiro's out there. do you keep your back and chest, abs, and lower back strong? do you round your shoulders forward, and slouch forward a little in your posture? if so, you may be over stretching the muscles in your back, and shorteninng the muscles in your chest, and is now catching up to you. deviations in our postures can cause pain. stretch chest well 20 to 30 seconds every morning and night. but don't over stretch it, do it nice and easy. too hard of mattress can be hard on us over time, so can too soft. if you can afford to get something inbetween I would try that.

see a doctor......awkward i am onli 13 but having the same problems! i cry alot now because i can't sleep and the PAIN!!

You probably have too soft of a mattress. Lay a blanket on the floor and sleep there for a night, see if it makes a difference. If it does, time to buy a new mattress! And if not, might be time to have the doc take a look-see...

try drinking more water, getting a new mattress and go see a doctor

What you don't need is bed rest. The back is so designed to be used that that's how it heals.
You need to learn and honor your limits. You probably have been asking too much of it. Use Bengay if you want, but mainly keep lightly active and take it easy. If it doesn't get better then see a doctor.

I'm a physical therapist. Current research shows that the very best thing for back pain is walking, even if it hurts at first.

It could be from the badminton because your throwing your arm around and causing your joints to pull apart or it could be your bed. but i think its your badminton-ing try stopping for a few days and see if your pain gets any better

It sounds like your mattress may be the culprit. sometimes you can flip your mattress and that will help. Try that before buying a new one.
