How can i get in shape despite my disability?!

Question: I just reciently tore my ACL hopefully you all know what that is, i also tore my medial maniscus, I just had reconstruction ACL surgery and maniscus repair on november 11th so it is almost 2 months past my surgery. It is a 9 month recovery period but i have noticed that i am beginning to gain weight due to my inabilty do run and do the excercises i used to do. I also want a speedy recovery and was wondering if there were excercises that i could do that woudl help me get ready for sweet16 season so i can dance. I will take your suggestions and talk to them with my doctor to see if they are appropriate. It would be greatly appreciated!

I would suggest working with a physical therapist to help get mobility back to your knee, and also swimming (make sure your incisions are completely healed, otherwise this will have to wait). Swimming has helped me get moving after my knee surgery (swimming was the only way I could get moving because I had such severe complications after surgery). Good luck!

Ask your doctor to set you up with a physical therapist so you get the proper exercises so your other muscles don't atrophy. The physical therapist can then also tell you what other exercise you should be doing - and to show you now to do them properly.
