What is the best way to assist the healing of a badly sprained ankle?!

Question: Tensor bandage, ice, heat..............???

Answers: Tensor bandage, ice, heat..............???

rice method,
rest, ice, compression, elevation

alternate heat and cold, that promtes blood flow. 5 min heat 10 min ice

ice for 15 min / heat for 15min.......keep foot elevated, dont walk on it

Stay off of it.

I slipped on the ice on Dec 20 and sprained my ankle really really badly. I got xrays but it was not broken, just badly sprained. They put a tensor band on it, gave me some tylenlol 3 and sent me home with some crutches. They told me to keep it elevated above my heart, and every hour or so to put an ice pack on it for 20 minutes at a time.
I did that, and by the 24th, I could hobble around on it and I went back to work for the first time today.
I stayed home for those first few days and kept the tensor band on it but took it off to put the ice pack on it. I was told not to sleep with it on.
It still hurts some, but I can manage the stairs now and I hardly limp at all.
So it will take a few days to heal.
I feel your pain.
take care of yourself
good luck

It is good to ice it and stay off it but whenever you injure yourself one way to help you feel faster is physiotherepy. I have sprained my ankle and this helped me get better and back to playing soccer faster. It is what professional athletes do. With physio is will help with the scar tissue that you will have in your ankle and keep it from swelling up and not be so bad.

Well, since you've already gotten good advice I will just send you my good wishes for a speedy recovery.
Hope you are okay and wish you a Happy New Year.
