no one in my family has herpes...so y do i have it
and is it ok to put ice on it.....its on the side of my mouth...like 6 or 7 tiny blisters
after i take the ice off it starts t tingle a little bit and i put the ice back on..ive got this coldsore yesterday

You get cold sores or herpes simplex because you had chicken pox at some point in your life! Herpes simplex and shingles are manifestations of the same chicken pox virus that is always in your body after you acquired chicken pox.
The other herpes viruses that are connected to sexually transmitted diseases are different forms of the herpes family of viruses.
You can put ice on cold sores if it feels better. There are anti-viral creams like Zovirax that can shorten the outbreaks, but I've found that keeping my immune system in tip-top shape prevents me from having any viral problems.
The herb echinacea and Zinc tablets are excellent anti-viral and immune boosting substances! Drinking plenty of filtered water and avoiding excessive sugar in your diet also helps.
Get a clove of garlic and cut it in half. Hold the exposed side of it to your cold sores for about five minutes. Do this three times a day, and it'll be gone before you know it. Ice isn't going to do anything but make your face cold.
Go to the drug store and buy some over the counter creams for cold sores, it takes about a week to go away
Hmmm...well you probably touched items, that probably alot of people touched, and you then touched your mouth and face area. For example, just the past sunday I went out with my girl's for a movie and dinner. I was walking up the stairs and I was touching the handle. During the movie I kept on touching my lips (the movie was super scary) And the next morning I realised that I had a cold-sore. I came to this conclusiong because I haven't left the house that day, besides the movie and the dinner date with my friends, and I haven't kissed anyone.

Use the ice if it helps you.
Lactinex will work alot better than ice. It will dramatically decrease the duration and severity of an outbreak. Its made a world of difference for me. L-lysine helps also.
Pharmacies have to keep Lactinex in a fridge but you don't need a script for it. Just ask the pharmacist for it.
You could have shared a soda with someone that had cold sores.
I'd not fester over HOW I got it. I'd just try to read up on how to minimize outbreaks.

You don't have to kiss or have sex with anyone to get the Herpes virus that causes cold sores. You can get it by sharing a cup, lipstick, towels, wash clothes. The virus stays in your system and comes out sometimes under stress, cold weather, illness. One treatment is Abreva which is an over-the-counter treatment. There are others but you need a prescription from a doctor.
