The doctors and/or emergency rooms can only give you prescriptions for controlled substances, which Darvacet is, a certain number of times, for the same problem. It would be wise to see the ENT as soon as possible. If the doctor has scheduled an appointment with an ENT and your ins has changed, check to be sure the ENT is not on the provider list. Even though your doctor isn't the ENT may be. actually, if you call the ENT, his office staff can tell you. In the meantime, other things you can do to decrease pain are; keep the air in your hmome moist with a steam vaporizor or simmer water in a pan on the stove, use normal saline nasal spray to keep the lining ing your nasal passages moist, if it is cold outside where the type of cap that fold down over the face. This will, somewhat prevent the rushes of cold air from entering your nose. If this doesn't work you can buy mask at Home Depot or other such stores used by painters and plasters. They are similar to surgical masks but are far less expensive. They too, will keep cold blast of air from entering your nose. Ibuprofen is a frean anti-inflammatory med and does work on pain but extra-strenght Tylenol may work better until you are able to get something stronger. Warm moist compresses will work better for this condition than ice. I hope this will be of some help. Sorry you are going through so much discomfort.

You could try hot and cold packs with meds. Switch back and forth, unless one works better than the other.
