Industrial piercing hurting months later?!

Question: i got my industrial done 3 or 4 months ago, and it still hurts when it gets hit and stuff. I try really hard not to sleep on it, but I tend to roll over in my sleep. I woke up today lying on the other ear and I know i went to sleep on that ear too, but it's hurting for seemingly no reason. A piercer looked at it about a month ago and didnt say it ws infected but that I had to be careful since I had such small ears (im generally a somewhat small person) and she could almost see it through the skin. should i be afraid that it's infected now though?

It's not unusual for an industrial to still be tender to sleep on after 4 months. Most industrials take between 6 months and a year to completely heal, meaning they can be sore and sensitive for quite some time. If you mean it hurts on its own, then no that is not normal and you should consider taking it to another piercer to have it looked at again.

What you're describing does not sound like an infection, but if the piercer you had check on it could almost see the bar through the skin, you may have a problem. If your piercing has begun to shift in your ear and move towards the surface, it may be rejecting. This could make it quite sore and leave you with scarring if you let it move too far towards the surface.

I would suggest you see another piercer (the best in the area, even if you have to drive a bit). Ask them to take a look at your ear and see if they think it is in a proper position to heal and keep. If they tell you that it looks like it has shifted and they don't think it is likely to stay put, consider taking it out and having it redone.

Industrials must be precisly placed to heal well and to prevent migration/rejection. If yours wasn't done just right, it is possible for the jewlery to put pressure on your ear and cause your piercings to shift. This shifting can make the pressure worse, disort your ear, lead to scaring, or just leave your ear very sore and tender. To figure out a solution to your problem, see an expert piercer and ask them their opinion on what you should do with your piercing.

Keep your piercing nice and clean, avoid putting pressure on it, and see the best piercer you can find for an opinion on what to do.

It sounds more like your body is rejecting the piercing. When it does this, it pushes the piercing out of the skin. It will take a while, but you will eventually have to take it out if this is the case. It should have been healed a LONG time ago. With her saying she could almost see it through your ear, it really sounds like you are rejecting it.

I would think that since that is not a place you would normally put a piercing, it might take a while to heal. If this lady said it was not infected, it likely isn't. I would keep a closer look on it and if it continues to bother you, you might consider removing it.

A friend of mine had his belly button pierced (yea, a guy...go figure?) and it took almost a year to heal. Good luck. Hope you get to feeling better.

I'm not sure what industrial means? If it's in the cartlidge, that takes a long time to heal all the way. I'm talking months...I had one but couldn't take it anymore, so I ended up taking it out. I used to have my eyebrow done twice and my labret done, and they healed rather quickly.
