My toe.......................!

Question: I was running thew the house the other day trying to get the phone before it stopped ringing and i hit my toe on the coffee table in the living room. It hurt really bad so i put some ice on it and it stopped hurting the next day. Well I had toenail polish on and I've recently took it off. When I took it off my toenail was dark purple, almost black. Will this heal or do I need to go to the doctor?

Hey,
Yeah, that will just be where you have ruptured some blood vessles under the toe nail itself...
In all essence its just a blood blister below the toe nail and it shouldnt cause you any problems. It will slowly grow out as the nail grows :)

ewwww that is so gross see a doctor now!!!!!!!!

The doctor will do nothing for a broken toe or toe nail. Sit tight...it will heal on its own..it has happened to me. I would ice it once in a while and maybe wrap it. Keep weight off it at all possible

It will heal. This happens also to people who hit thei fingers while nailing something.

If it doent heal like a normal bruise or the pain gets really bad see a doctor. Ice it and try paracetomal or ibruprofen.

It sounds like you got a little blood under your nail. Dont worry! Now if it worsens (like is in alot of pain or numbness) go to the doctor because they cant do anything for a broke toe or nail but if there is damage to the nerves blood flow they will then have to make a decision. But it will heal on it's own it just has to "grow out"

Bruises like that are common to nails that have been in impat injuries like stubbing a toe or getting a finger smashed in a door. I've heard that your doctor can probably drain the nail by poking a hole in it or with time it will grow out on it's own.

I had the same thing happen with the middle finger on my left hand after I smashed the tip of it with a car door at work. Hope your toe gets better soon.
