What did I do to my ribs?!

Question: So I was snowboardin bout 5 days ago and ate it hard. it was like i got the wind knocked out of me. Took me a while 2 get up.
So now I have like swellin (hope its not a bone though) and it seems that there is like an indent and its gettin harder to breathe. o and hurts when I bend that way or nething and when i laugh or cough or take a deep breath.
I am just wonderin what I did and do you guys think i can get back up on the slopes again soon?

Oooooooh same thing happened to me. It hurts, I know. You either bruised, fractured or broke your rib. It will probably be another week before it feels any better. I don't know why but it's one of those injuries that takes awhile to heal. Sorry and hope you feel better sooner than later!

hmmm i wonder, see a quack you've obviously taken a whack to the head!!!

i think that you might have fractured a rib bone or pulled some muscle there...if its swelling and bruised i think you should run the snowboarding thing by a doctor before you go again

Most likely, and hopefully, you pulled a muscle when you fell. Or you could have damaged some cartilage in your rib cage, but most likely you didn't break anything or you'd be in a lot more pain. I strongly recommend going to the doctor to try to pin point the pain so you can get on the slopes again ASAP.

go to a doctor.......................and see what he or she says...........and ask him or her if you can go snowboarding again

you need to go to hospital. you could have a pneumothorax or fractured ribs. go NOW!

If you can press a bit where it hurts and not jump through the roof, then you've probably just torn muscle or connective tissue.
Otherwise, when you can get your fingernails dug out of the ceiling, be assured you've probably cracked a rib.

Either way, the treatment is the same: go easy. No physical exertion for several weeks after the pain subsides.
Alternate ice for swelling, and heat for circulation, about 20 minutes each.
Some claim that a tight wrap helps with the discomfort. Personally, a wrap made me want to scream, but it's all according to what helps you.

sounds like a broken rib......you can probably get back on the slopes as soon as you can bend and catch your breath, lol

Get to your doctor or ER and have this checked out. If it it getting more difficult to breathe, you need to have this seen to without delay.

I watched one of those "World's Wildest Videos" shows today and someone on a snowboard hit the snow hard and ended up in a body brace. You can do serious damage on a snow board - just go and get it seen to.
