I was fiftteen when i had a problem with my knee. the cause of this was due to a sports inury. basically my knee would wobble and give way, almost pop out and collapse beneath me! The cause of this was a large and sudden twist to the knee. After a while i would tried to run but is will always gave- way

It turned out that the problem was that i tore my ligament which was very painfull! In turn this caused a little loose cartilage floating around the knee! clicking was also present.

so ask her if she feels like her knee is clicking.

maybe you daughter had an injury whislts running! it happens!
when this happens does the knee get swollen straight away?
If so she maybe had a sprain or something. usually the knee starts to swell up and get very inflammed.

There is a small test which you can take to chech the strength and stability of the knee. Lachmans test......(see internet for more details b4 you try)

1. if you tell her to lye down on her back and bend her legs.

2. hold down the foot of the bad leg or maybe sit on it. tell the to relax her muscles!

3. place your hands under her calf and gently pull the knee foward towards you. this will help recognise the strength of her knee.

4. do the same to the other knee and compare the strenth.

This all should be done carefully as she is small.
There are lots of information about knee injuries that you should check out on the internet that would help you abit more. this is just from experience and what the surgen did for me!

hope she gets better!

that happens to me--well, used to

my tendon and muscle werent strong enough to hold me up

it was sprained

but they knew that with just 1 x-ray no further tests!!

if the doctors don't know how would I know?
