Anyone who has had back surgery, please answer?!

Question: I had lower back surgery (L4-L5), 5 months ago and still experience pain. Sometimes extreme. I find it difficult to bend over, stand for any great length of time, sit for long periods and I cannot lift anymore than 15 lbs. without pain. Have you experienced this? What kind of problems do you continue to have and what was your final outcome?

what kind of back surgery did you have? i had lower back surgery too, just under 5 months ago , august 20, 2007 and now i do not experience pain, i have only experienced pain (when i was able to get off the pain medication due to not feeling pain anymore or needing it) maybe a month ago that i felt a sharp pain in my back when i twisted but it only happened once and it went away within ten minutes, sometimes my back does feel tight , like it needs to be stretched a little when i do bend over, i can stand up for a good period of time, but sometimes i might get a little achey, but nothing that i cant handle, sitting is no problem for me , and as for lifting weights, i havent really lifted anything to heavy , even at the gym i don't and cant be lifting weights above my head or what not, and when faced with a situation where i have to lift something i usually have someone around who could help me. My only problems that i still have now is a tight feeling in my back if i try to bend over, i dont think that will ever feel the same again, also my lower back is still a numb feeling.

All good questions for your SURGEON. Outcomes are random. Some people scar down after surgery and never get pain relief. Some get better quickly. There's no way to tell. And remember, just because you didn't get a good result, it doesn't mean it's your fault, or your surgeons fault. You can't help it if you form scars, and he won't cut on you again for fear of making more scars.
