Why do i have such a hard time falling asleep?!

Question: i cant seem to fall asleep it takes hours and hours sometimes.

Answers: i cant seem to fall asleep it takes hours and hours sometimes.

I have the same problem. The thing that helps me the most is having a set routine for the hour before been that does not include television. I usually take a shower and read. You should also go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time every morning (even weekends, this is the hardest thing for me, and why I have sleeping problems). Taking melatonin 30min before bed is a good idea in the first week. Once your body gets on a routine it usually falls asleep naturally in 30min. Of course no caffeine after the first 5 or so hours of the day (even if you think it doesn't really wake you up, it is at least not letting you sleep). They also say that you should only use the bed room for sleeping and sex so that your mind associates the room with going to sleep. And no naps.

Stressed out? Worried about someone? Do alot of exercise.

You offer too little information to be able to answer. Sleep disturbances can be very complex, involving many variables. Keep a sleep log (time you wake up, nap times, time you go to bed, your sleep environment, what time you think you actually went to sleep, exercise log, what you think might have kept you up, caffeine/alcohol intake, other meds, stressors) for at least 2 weeks. Then see your family physician with the information.
