I have a book that is by Allan Carr and it is called 'How To Stop Smoking For Good'...........It is a great book as it does not tell you all the problems that you will have from smoking, and it does not tell you to stop, but if you read and soak all of the information in, it can reorganise your thoughts and make you think, why am I doing this.?..............In reality, you have more to gain from not smoking, than you do to smoke................What do you get out of it? NOTHING............I have seen amazing things from people that have read his book..You do not have to do a workshop, just check the book out, you will not be dissapointed

Here is a web site that has some interesting and helpful stuff to help you quit.

Hi. I too am attempting to quit; first time I have actually tried since I was 16 (49 now). I started Chantix on 1-1-08 and while I will have to say that the urge to smoke has definately lessened, I am still smoking. I have set my quit date as 2-1-08. I have read alot on Chantix and it appears alot of people quit too soon and/or stop taking their pills too soon. I am just trying to do the best I can - take it one day at a time (I am still on the starter pack), and see how it goes. Today, on the way home from picking up milk, I was sitting at red light and it dawned on me, that I did not automatically reach for a cig when I got back in my car - that kinda surprised me as it was always the first thing I did. So, I will have to say it is dulling the urge and hopefully and I increase the strength, it will help me out even more. I also have to say that cigs do now taste (really) like dirt - not kidding. When things calm down here (more routine, kid goes back to college, etc), perhaps I can give it my absolute all. I am looking forward to breaking this addiction once and for all. Also, no real nausea with Chantix except for maybe 10 min after I take it. No problem sleeping - sleeping as normal - no wild dreams (yet).
