Ugh they suck. They can be caused by one of several things. Virus, bacteria or blockage. If it's bacterial you can get antibiotic drops from your doctor. If it's viral you're kind of stuck with it until it goes away because antibiotics don't work on viruses. I've had them before from using mascara that went bad. I don't know if it made it go away any faster, but placing a warm, moistened tea bag on it (not too hot!) really made it feel better. Any warm damp compress will work, but a tea bag seems to be the perfect size and I think the tannins in the tea do something to help the healing. The last time I had one it lasted for about three days. Just keep it clean and don't poke at or rub it.

Good luck!

A doctor can give you medicine to get rid of it. Some people get them a lot and others may only get them once.

go to the eye doctor, they have eye drops really cheap tht help.

see a docter or pharmasist

it means you got something infected in your eye; girls often get it by sharing makeup and such...

my help would be NOT to rub your eyes for a while; and maybe disinfect your hands before touching your face.

Lack of sleep causes a stye, they can last anytime up to a couple of weeks.

A sty is an acute infection or inflammation of the secretory glands of the eyelids.

This common infection or inflammation results from blocked glands within the eyelid. When the gland is blocked, the oil produced by the gland occasionally backs up and extrudes through the wall of the gland, forming a lump, which can be red, painful, and nodular. Frequently, bacteria can infect the blocked gland, causing increased inflammation, pain, and redness of the eye and even redness of the surrounding eyelid and cheek tissue.

The lump can point externally (outward) or internally (inward). Frequently, the lump appears with a visible whitish or yellowish spot that looks much like a large pimple. Usually, one obvious area of swelling is apparent on one lid, but many styes can appear on one or both eyelids simultaneously.

The lump frequently goes away when the blockage of the gland opening is relieved. Furthermore, the infection goes away when the pus is drained from the sty.

Sty Treatment

Self-Care at Home
Most styes go away on their own in 5-7 days.

Apply warm compresses 4-6 times a day for about 15 minutes at a time to help the drainage. Keep your eyes closed.

Gently scrub the eyelid with tap water or with a mild, nonirritating soap or shampoo (such as baby shampoo). This may help with drainage. Close your eyes as you scrub so you do not injure your eyes.

Do not squeeze or puncture the sty. A more serious infection may occur as a result.

Discontinue the use of eye makeup as well as eye lotions and creams because they may be infected.

Discontinue wearing your contact lenses because the sty may cause an infection to spread to your cornea with the continued use of your contact lenses.

it all depends usually its from bacteria you know touching and rubbing your eyes after you touched a door knob or whatever they can go away at all different times it all depends

well what causes it is when ur eyes r dirtyu get that but it will go away it self just like it came but washing ur eyes with warm water and also rubbing ur finger on ur hand and then touching the effected eye area with the hot finger could help.. helps me

I've gotten stye's before. What really helps them is if you keep a warm washcloth on your eye as much as you can stand it. That plus eyedrops from the eyedoctor are what helped mine. Don't wear contacts or anything in the mean time- that will irritate it more.

As for what causes them, usually it deals with a particle of dust or something that gets caught up under one of your eyelids and rubs and rubs until it becomes infected.

I wish you the best- I know how badly it hurts!

Bathe ur eye with a mild solution of boracic acid 2% 2 to 3 times a day, it should ccear within 2/3 days. PS do not scratch!

theres some over the counter stuff called stye you can buy. I dont know if it works i've never tried it.. what I've always done is take a hot wash cloth (as hot as you can stand it) and lay down and put it over your eyes . also it feels really goopy but if you put vaseline on the corner where its at it will help the itching.. basically a stye is a clogged tear duct. the hot wash cloth for a day or two two to three times a day always helped mine clear up pretty quick..

They are caused by bacteria in a swollen sebacious gland. Yank out the respective eyelash, put a warm compress on it, and get some neosporin on it after that.

maybe you need to go to the doc and get it checked out
