Ingrown toe nail question?!

Question: So I just got my big toe's ingrown toenails cut off.

It's been 3 hours they are still oozing blood or something (I have bandages on them). When will this stop? I plan on soaking them in this special salt and water tomorrow btw.

You got a nail removed; of course it's going to bleed and ooze for a while, but it shouldn't last more than a day or so. (By the way, no peeking! Be sure to keep the bandages on as long as your doctor tells you to or you risk it getting injured or dirty.) If the "special salt" is Epsom salt, that's good; that stuff is the best for soothing any pain and helping it heal. Speaking of the healing process, be sure to let it get some air (go barefoot at home whenever you can, but keep it covered with a bandage when you do wear shoes) and, if your doctor recommended this or you suspect an infection forming, apply Neosporin or a similar product regularly to reduce your risk. It might hurt a little now, but if you do everything right it will be better before you know it!

It is just going to take time......keep them clean and change the bandages when the others are soaked...also keep your feet up and not try a walk too much will help. Trust me once this is over your going to feel a lot better than having the ingrown nails.

You will be ok, a very painful procedure,
Ive had ingrown toenails for twenty years,
I just cut them out myself, saves on the doctor bill, too

It usually will stop bleeding/oozing after about 6 hours. Use the salt bath to keep your feet soft, so that the wounds don't harden and crack. If yours were anything like mine, you should be just about perfect by the end of the weekend. Hope this helps!

The next time you feel your toenail growing down the side do this... Cut a "V" in the end, center of your toenail. The "V" while naturally start to heal and pull the V closed, in fact it will pull the ends out as the v starts to try to close and prevent the ingrown toenail. After doing this regularly, the ingrwon toenails will stop completely. It really works. Your nail will naturally try to fill back in anyplace you cut, so don't try to cut it out on the corners or it will try to fill that back in.
