Slammed finger in door while drunk. Is it normal for the tips of my fingers to b!

Question: Last night i slammed my hand in my door;;
pretty freakin hard.
(Right middle/ring fingers)

And i kept them straight during the night, had band aids,
and i tried to keep ice on them.
i had a cut on my ring finger,
on the inner part, not where my finger nail is.

This morning, they're still swollen;
and the tips of my fingers are numb.
They dont hurt to bend them,
or move them, just a little tender.

is that normal?

should i go to the doctor?
or just keep ice and stuff on it?

Thanks...

its very normal for your fingers to be tender & numb. its only been a day. it needs more time to heal. just keep applying ice & move your fingers or strech them a bit to make sure that the circulation continues. :)

lol yeaah just keep ice on it and you should be fine

Maybe I'm overly cautious, but I would head off to the ER.

Just keep ice on it they are fine.

ouch..i'd go to the doc's to be safe..i hope you feel better soon mate

The swelling may be constricting the nerves.
Yes, you should see a doctor.

Just keep ice on them.

um please see a doc. b/c if there IS a problem, the longer you wait, the worse it will be and the harder it will be to fix. which gets expensive and painful as time goes on.

My finger went black when I did that and my finger nail fell off. Sounds like you got off lucky.

I sat on my foot too long once and it went numb and stayed that way, I went to the doctors (like anybody with this problem should) and he said it would just take time and be normal again, after about a week it was back to normal.

Just keep ice on them, and be careful with them. If they're still like that after a few days, go to a doctor

Theres a lesson in this, but its not entirely clear...

Put it this way: It's never a bad idea to have a doc look at it.

yea it's normal ^^ the blood just wasn't getting much circulation to your fingers... try and ease up on the pressure if you had any and set your fingers down periodically so you dont get all the blood drained.

Ya.it'll be sore for awhile and you'll see some color changes.....
