My mom fractured her ribs!?!
Question: my mom fractured her ribs on thanksgiving..shes gotten a lot better compared to before but she still has a lot of pain in the middle of her abdomen..like a bloating feeling and soreness..the doctors just told her take otc motrin and thats about it..its been about 6 weeks now but this pain is making her worried..is it normal to have this abdominal pain?

It may be that the painkillers are making her feel bloated. Broken ribs take time to heal and pain with them is usually a very sharp stabbing pain when you move the wrong way.
6 weeks? go back to the dr.!
no... I will be worried too after six weeks and I am still having (intense) pain... your mom should switch to a new doctor, or ask the doctor to consider a scan.

Maybe the doctors missed something.
Always get a second opinion if you aren't sure.
These kinds of questions should be asked to a professional
this can be caused by a number of things.
And maybe the doctor should take another look at her maybe more x rays to see if she is healing properly

it is normal to have a lot of pain when rigs are fractured they do take time to heal my lady friend had car accident 4 months ago her ribs are still sore so unless the drs suggest anything else hang in there

She should have followed up with her doctor a couple of times since the original injury. The pain should be in the area of the injury and will be there for a while. As far as the abdoman - that is not the norm. Return to the doctor.
I did the same thing the Sunday before Thanksgiving. The ribs are left rear in center. I took arnica and no other pain relief, it limited the damage, worked immediately and has no side effects.
I think the stomach ache is due to the motrin's side effect. I am LOTS better but when it rains it is uncomfortable.

that may be a very fatal thing if it's not checked under a MRI or any thing else.go to a different doctor if the doctor says to take the pills again(if you want to make sure she's OK then go to 2 doctors to see both of there hypotheses
