Try to avoid stressful situations if possible.
I was able to quit several years ago by quitting while on vacation from work.
Also if you smoked when drinking coffee or alcohol it would be best to avoid them too.
I was able to give up my after work beer for a while but nobody can stop me from having my coffee. LOL
It also helps to think of the money you are saving. Maybe you can put your cigarette money aside for a while and get yourself something special for yourself...maybe a one month smoke-free present.
Also be sure to let people know that you quit smoking. The former smokers will probably have a lot of tips on keeping yourself from going back.

the emotions need an outlet,,, express them in an art form or have a friend listen to you rabble about them....

i'm only 12 and i haven't ever smoked, but i picked up some things since just about everyone else in my family has smoked...

1. everyday try keep track of how many sigs you smoke a day. everyday try cutting off one(or every few days)
2. if you live in a cold place, try smoking outside every time you have a craving to smoke. the coldness will prevent you from wanting to go outside--smoking.

i guess the first and most helpful would be if your are commited that you really should stop smoking and if u r being positive about it..

coz it really doesnt help if a lot of people pressure u to stop smoking but u urse self is not ready for it..

graudually stop smoking , dont do it abruptly coz ure gonna have withdrawal symptoms

use a gum or candy if u feel like smoking
